SLAYER Officially Confirmed To Headline Mexico's MONTERREY METAL FEST
July 24, 2006As BLABBERMOUTH.NET first reported on July 19, SLAYER has now been officially confirmed as the headliner of the third edition of the Monterrey Metal Fest, set to take place Saturday, September 23, 2006 at the Coca Cola Auditorium in the city of Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico. The official festival pre-party will be held on Friday, September 22, 2006 at the Cafe Iguana with mini-sets from bands that will be performing on the festival's Main Stage and Second Stage.
The 2006 Monterrey Metal Fest promises to be the "biggest and baddest version yet, which will feature 6-7 of the biggest names in heavy metal music from all over the world on the Main Stage and 6-7 up and coming bands on the Second Stage," according to a press release.

SLAYER will play several other Mexican dates in late September, immediately following their mini-tour of South America. Although no details have yet been officially announced, these are believed to be the tentative dates for the trek:

SLAYER's new album, "Christ Illusion", is scheduled for release on August 8, 2006 via American Recordings/Warner Bros. Records.
"Christ Illusion" is SLAYER's first new studio album since 2001, and the first recorded by the band's original line-up — Kerry King (guitar),Tom Araya (bass, vocals),Jeff Hanneman (guitars),Dave Lombardo (drums) — since 1990's "Seasons In The Abyss". "Christ Illusion" was produced by Josh Abraham and executive-produced by Rick Rubin.
SLAYER recently taped an appearance on the Independent Film Channel program "The Henry Rollins Show". According to the IFC show's web site, the episode featuring SLAYER will premiere on July 29.
