SLEEPYTIME GORILLA MUSEUM Hard At Work On New Album

October 25, 2006

San Francisco act SLEEPYTIME GORILLA MUSEUM is currently recording parts of its as-yet-untitled first full-length album for The End Records at Tiny Telephone studios in San Francisco, California with engineer/producer Joel Hamilton (THE BOOK OF KNOTS, SPARKLEHORSE, ELVIS COSTELLO, FRANK BLACK, UNSANE, BATTLE OF MICE, DUB TRIO)

About the new CD, engineer/producer Joel Hamilton says, "Moving forward, the band requires little attention to compose a work of great indifference, etc," while violinist/singer Carla Kihlstedt comments, "kept company by the unflinching gaze of multi-colored wall monsters, the noises spill forth to fill their two dimensional ears."

Matthias Bossi adds, "Revitalization (though not as eerily rampant as gentrification) continues to stun the band in the early stages of compositional magnification."

The album is scheduled to surface sometime in early 2007

The band recently reissued their 2001 album "Grand Opening And Closing!" on The End Records. The reissue, released in digipak format, has also been expanded with two unreleased songs and a live bonus song recorded by the band’s new line-up.
