SLIPKNOT's CLOWN Misses AERODROME FESTIVAL Appearance Due To Wife's Illness
May 30, 2005SLIPKNOT kicked off their European tour Friday night (May 27) at the Aerodrome Festival in Wiener Neustadt, Austria without percussionist Clown (No. 6) — also known as Shawn Crahan — who was reportedly forced to miss the show because his wife is ill with Crohn's disease. Back in March, Clown missed the group's appearance on NBC's "Late Night with Conan O'Brien" and several dates on the band's U.S. tour for the same reason.
In an interview with the Des Moines Register conducted last month, Crahan spoke about his wife's battle with Crohn's disease. Crahan said, "Right now has definitely been the hardest time in my life...health is the most important thing you have on this planet if you're gonna have a successful life." Crahan added that balancing family and band responsibilities has been one of his goals throughout his career: "That's the thing I fight for most in this biz, is family. I've been married 12 years, and my wife has let me do SLIPKNOT for 10...Family can and is being incorporated into rock 'n' roll. You can have a wife, you can have a child or children and be a rock 'n' roller."
