SLIPKNOT's CLOWN Switches To SABIAN Cymbals
November 15, 2005Shawn Crahan, better known as "Clown" with platinum-selling metal band SLIPKNOT, is the latest rocker to switch to Sabian cymbals. A hard hitter with a tendency to play to the extreme high end of the volume spectrum, Crahan selected his Sabian set-up on the basis of sound and durability.
"I love Sabian cymbals," says Crahan, "because they seem to be the only cymbals in the world that that sound this good and are tough enough to handle two hundred and fifty pounds of 'go'."
Added Sabian artist relations manager (USA West) Christian Stankee: "SLIPKNOT's music is extreme metal, really hard stuff, and Shawn's success with his Sabians underlines the fact that our secret-process B20 bronze is the most musical and durable cymbal metal available. In fact, while Sabian cymbals are best known for their innovative designs and musical sounds, more and more major rock and metal players are switching to Sabian because the metal is so durable and there are so many bigger, louder models for them to choose from."
Crahan's set-up includes 15" AA Rock Hats, an 18" HHX Power Crash, 19" AAXplosion Crash, 24" and 28" prototype rides, and an 8" Cymbal Disc.
In addition to leading his band SLIPKNOT, Crahan has launched a new record label, Big Orange Clown Records, for which he will serve as producer and director as well as artist.
