SLIPKNOT: 'Voliminal: Inside The Nine' DVD Certified Double-Platinum In Canada
December 18, 2006SLIPKNOT's "Voliminal: Inside the Nine" DVD has been certified double-platinum in Canada for sales in excess of 20,000 copies. This double-platinum certification can be added to the four other platinum accolades for the band in Canada, including the group's self-titled debut (1999),2001's "Iowa", the double-live "Disasterpieces" DVD (2002) and 2004's Grammy Award-winning "Vol. 3: Subliminal Verses". ("Best Metal Performance" for the song "Before I Forget".)
"Voliminal: Inside the Nine" shifted more than 24,000 units in the United States in the first seven days following its release to land at No. 5 on Billboard's Top Music Video chart.
"Voliminal: Inside the Nine" was directed by SLIPKNOT percussionist Shawn "Clown" Crahan and shot while the band was recording and touring behind its third album, "Vol. 3 (The Subliminal Verses)". Crahan told Launch that he originally began the project because he thought the band was going to break up. "The idea behind this was that, number one, there was a lot of fighting with my band from the second record that was caught, and a lot of us hadn't even seen each other for two years," he said. "So I was very interested in how things would pan out because, to me, a lot of it looked like it was gonna be the end, and I felt like I'd have to explain it since I'm one of the guys that started it."
Crahan says that "Voliminal" presents an "unflinching" look at SLIPKNOT's 10-year history. The documentary was shot on digital handheld cameras over a 28-month period.
The second disc of the two-DVD set features in-depth, exclusive interviews with all nine members of the band (unmasked!),bonus live and television performances, as well as all the videos from "Vol. 3".
The members of SLIPKNOT will regroup late next year to begin work on their next album.
