SLIPKNOT's COREY TAYLOR Talks 'Summer's Last Stand' Tour (Video)
August 16, 2015SLIPKNOT frontman Corey Taylor recently sat down with Zippo Encore — the music program created by Zippo — to talk about the band's "Summer's Last Stand" U.S. tour with LAMB OF GOD, BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE and MOTIONLESS IN WHITE. You can watch the clip below.
SLIPKNOT and Zippo Encore have partnered for "Summer's Last Stand". The members of SLIPKNOT worked with Zippo to design a collection of exclusive Zippo lighters that were made available to fans during the trek.
Said Taylor: "The process for bringing our special SLIPKNOT Zippos to life is essentially us just basically putting our creative caps on and trying to think of something visually that we would wanna see and maybe has never been seen before.
"I know Clown's [percussionist Shawn Crahan] [worked] on some designs, and he's so artistically visual that [it has resulted in] some very, very cool things that the fans will appreciate."
He continued: "Zippo is a brand that I've appreciated since I was young. And who can think of a concert, especially a heavy metal or hard rock concert, without picturing lighters up in the air showing the appreciation for the music that's been going on."
Taylor added: "I think SLIPKNOT fans will be into this, as far as us working with Zippo, because they know that when we put our name behind something that it's gonna mean quality and it's gonna mean something very cool for them. We do it for the art, and we do it for the fans — to try and make something cool for them, because they are the whole reason that we're here. So it'll be exciting to see the reaction to the SLIPKNOT Zippos that come out, especially knowing that it came from our brain and that it's something that we back fully."
The "Summer's Last Stand" tour kicked off on July 24 in West Palm Beach, Florida, and will wrap up six weeks later on September 5 in Dallas.
SLIPKNOT is supporting its latest album, ".5: The Gray Chapter", which came out in October.
The latest single released from "The Gray Chapter" is called "Killpop".
