February 18, 2008SMASHED ALLEY, ROCK CITY DROPOUTS, ANNA NICOLEMINER'S DAUGHTER and THE SWEAR have been confirmed for Cruefest Atlanta, set to take place April 4, 2008 at the 10 High Club in Atlanta, Georgia. Also scheduled to appear are ASPHALT VALENTINE, PROGRAM THE DEAD, IRONHEAD and THE JULIA DREAM. Tickets will be sold at the door for $10.
Around for more than five years, the association known collectively as "Cruefest" has promoted bands that follow in the MÖTLEY CRÜE spirit. Events are held at various locations around the world throughout the year to spotlight these bands and to raise money for the Skylar Neil Memorial Fund, Nikki Sixx's Running Wild in the Night foundation, Tommy Lee's charity of choice St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and Mick Mars' charity Spondylitis Association of America.
Attendees are asked to come celebrate the miracle of life and help raise funds to continue the fight against childhood diseases such as cancer, help give runaways a place to live and help a friend in need. All proceeds are donated directly to charity.
Event sponsors donate money and merchandise while the bands donate their talent. The highlight of Cruefest Atlanta is the opportunity for MÖTLEY CRÜE fans to get together and raise money for charities. The benefit features the bands as well as the free merchandise, auctions and raffles.
The Skylar Neil Memorial Fund was founded by MÖTLEY CRÜE lead singer Vince Neil in honor of his daughter Skylar who died at age 4 from cancer in 1995. The Skylar Neil Memorial Fund donates exclusively to the T.J. Martell Foundation for leukemia, cancer, and aids research. The Skylar Neil Memorial Fund has raised over $1,000,000 to date.
MÖTLEY CRÜE bassist Nikki Sixx founded the Running Wild in the Night foundation, which is dedicated to raising funds for Covenant House. Covenant House is the largest privately funded childcare agency in the United States providing shelter and service to homeless and runaway youth.
Last year, Cruefests across the world raised over $25,000 for charity. Cruefest hopes to raise even more in 2008.
