SNOT Guitarist Says VEXT And MAYO Quit The Band

Guitarist Mikey Doling of the reformed legendary Santa Barbara metal/punk rock hybrid SNOT has released another statement to BLABBERMOUTH.NET clarifying the circumstances surrounding the departures of vocalist Tommy Vext (a.k.a. Tommy Cummings) and guitarist Sonny Mayo. He says, "To be be clear, Tommy Vext was not fired from SNOT... He quit the band, along with Sonny Mayo. I don't want the SNOT fans out there to think that there is any bad blood between Tommy, Sonny and the remaining members of SNOT. We had a blast while working together; in the end, it just did not work out. We wish them the best of luck."

Doling previously told BLABBERMOUTH.NET that Vext and Mayo's departures from SNOT followed a five-month songwriting period which produced "a lot of strain on relationships within the band."

The remaining members of SNOT — Doling, John "Tumor" Fahnestock (bass) and Jamie Miller (drums) — are planning to carry on with the band and are currently seeking a replacement singer. "We are going to be holding tryouts eventually and would like to hear from vocalists with the goods to take the helm as the vocalist for SNOT," Doling said.

SNOT disbanded in 1998 following the death of the group's lead singer, Lynn Strait. Lynn died in a car accident in December 1998, putting an end to a career that generated considerable promise but only one studio album, the 1997 Geffen Records release "Get Some". Also killed was the band's mascot Dobbs, Strait's dog who adorned the cover of SNOT's debut album. The band had been writing material for its sophomore CD and had completed 10 songs at the time of Strait's tragic passing. As a memorial to Strait, SNOT eventually decided to release those tracks, with lyrics and guest vocals provided by a host of stars from the alt-metal community. The resulting album, "Strait Up", was a fitting tribute from Strait's peers and friends, featuring members of LIMP BIZKIT, KORN, SLIPKNOT, SEVENDUST, (HED) P.E., COAL CHAMBER, SUGAR RAY, SYSTEM OF A DOWN, SOULFLY, and more.
