SOCIETY 1 Returns With New Single And Video

March 8, 2011

After a five-year span of relative inactivity, SOCIETY 1 returns with a new single and video (directed and edited by vocalist Lord Zane),"I Got You", which is one the tracks featured on the band's upcoming album, "The Lonely God". The first collection of entirely new material from SOCIETY 1 since "The Sound That Ends Creation", which was released by Earache Records in 2005, "The Lonely God" is being engineered and co- produced by guitar player and new member Billie Stevens (WANK, HANDSOME DEVIL) while remaining members consist of drummer Preston Nash (DOPE, PRIMER 55, THE COLOR RED) and bassist Dirt Von Karloff.

Although the majority of recording is completed, the band has decided only to distribute singles digitally with an accompanying video for each song every six to eight weeks.

"It's a crazy schedule that we put ourselves on but I am really into the idea of trying to achieve something new and exciting visually for each track," says Zane. "I just don't think it's enough these days to only release music with limited promotion and expect people to pay attention for long. An interesting music video for every song could change that."

Zane will be directing and editing the first two or three videos but will seek various up-and-coming filmmakers for future collaborations.

"I haven't been in the director's chair for some time and have a few ideas I want to explore," says Zane. "In order for my concepts to be fully executed to the extent envisioned, I believe it is necessary to not only direct but to edit everything myself to the last frame. After a few videos are created in that fashion, I am looking forward to collaborating with other filmmakers."

Although the band is releasing material and shooting videos independently, they are open to the idea of working with a label if the opportunity presents itself.

"A lot has changed in the five years we have been gone," says Zane. "Right now we are just going to get back in the game and do what we love, create music, videos and perform. If someone eventually approaches us, we would be open to working with them. Let's see what happens after being out there with the new material."

"I Got You" is available on iTunes.
