SODOM Frontman: 'The Time Is Right' For Full U.S. Tour

May 3, 2006

Mark Carras of Rock My Monkey recently conducted an interview with Tom Angelripper of SODOM. A couple of excerpts from the chat follow:

Rock My Monkey: Schmier of DESTRUCTION recently said that it was because of money that SODOM won't do a full U.S. tour. Is that true?

Tom: "No. We're just going to for the money? Or when was DESTRUCTION going to tour?"

Rock My Monkey: How big would the clubs have to be on a tour to get Sodom to player here?

Tom: "The first tour we did with FINNTROLL were just a couple of shows in New York, and Poughkeepsie, and we have three shows in Canada. It's just a small club tour, you know? But I think we try to get a chance for a bigger tour in America, because SODOM never toured in U.S. America, really, you know?

Rock My Monkey: Right.

Tom: "So we have this year we have a show at B.B. King's again New York, and also we're going to try to play Los Angeles. We're going to plan a South America tour, but SODOM never made a big U.S. America tour, and now I think the time is right. We've got to find a serious promoter who is going to help us out, and going to support us, so we'll go on tour, because we've never played there, you know? And I think the time is right after 25 years now."

Rock My Monkey: And I think if you guys did a tour with, you know, do a German thrash tour with KREATOR and DESTRUCTION, that would pack the hell out of clubs in America.

Tom: "Yeah. That was years before when DESTRUCTION/KREATOR go to a U.S. tour, but SODOM, we didn't have time this year, I think. Also, the other guys from SODOM, they need a vacation, because one of the guys is still working, you know? And he is always to check that he has enough free time for going on tour. But I think now the time is right. We can't go for six weeks, or whatever, but we have to do maybe two or three weeks for touring. That wouldn't be a problem.
