SOILENT GREEN Overcoming Hurdles

March 20, 2008

Nic Baird of The Charlatan reports: Sludge metal band SOILENT GREEN has had a bassist killed in a murder-suicide, a vocalist lost to Hurricane Katrina, and multiple van accidents that left another member temporarily paralyzed.

"We've had to regroup a few times in our career unfortunately," said Brian Patton, the consistent guitarist for the band.

Rolling Stone has called SOILENT GREEN "one of the ten best hard and heavy bands" in existence.

Despite this, they had been in a long recovery phase as their vocalist, Ben Falgoust, dealt with injuries from a van accident.

But it looks like the band is regaining momentum.

"Each one of those things that came to us was like a slap in the face. We didn't see it coming. But, if there's any kind of karma out there..." said Patton, trailing off.

Patton noted that the biggest development in recent years is the group's signing to a new label, Metal Blade.

He said the band feels it is getting a lot more support and enthusiasm.

Unless there is an act of God, Patton said there should be no more problems on the horizon.
