SOILWORK Back On Stage For First Time In Over A Year; Video Available

July 16, 2010

Swedish metallers SOILWORK kicked off their North American headlining tour on Wednesday, July 14 at Jaxx in West Springfield, Virginia. Support on the trek is being provided by San Francisco Bay Area thrashers DEATH ANGEL, Quebec’s tech-death masters AUGURY, Roadrunner Records recording artists MUTINY WITHIN and pirate-themed thrashers SWASHBUCKLE.

SOILWORK frontman Björn "Speed" Strid commented on the first show of the tour and what it was like to play in front of a crowd again after an extended absence from the stage.

He said, "So we kicked off our North American tour last night in West Springfield. All I can say is that we had an absolute blast performing the new songs for the first time.

"It was our first show in over a year and I felt so pumped getting up on that stage again.

"The work for our latest album took a lot of energy and patience but made the band regain all the inspiration and strength, so it was with great excitement we entered that stage last night. The crowd was super-excited and already knew the lyrics for some of the songs even though the album was released only three days ago. I had a silly smile on my face the whole show, and even though the heat was about to kill me on stage, I could probably have made it through a couple of more songs since I felt so energetic.

"The setlist is massive and so is the touring schedule; 27 shows in 30 days and 18 songs every night, covering our whole career. Pretty damn insane!

"So proud of what we have accomplished with this new album and they way we pull it off live. A huge kick!

"Can't wait to do all these shows."

Fan-filmed video footage of SOILWORK's July 15, 2010 concert at The Trocadero in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania can be viewed below.

SOILWORK's new album, "The Panic Broadcast", was released in Europe on July 2 and was made available in North America on July 13 via Nuclear Blast Records. The CD was mixed at Fascination Street studio in Örebro, Sweden with Jens Bogren (OPETH, KATATONIA, PARADISE LOST, BLOODBATH).

SOILWORK's new album is the first to feature guitarist Peter Wichers since his return to the band in 2008, as well as the studio debut with axeman Sylvain Coudret, who also joined in 2008.

SOILWORK is working on a music video for the song "Deliverance Is Mine", to be directed by Ivan Colic (EX DEO, TYPE O NEGATIVE, UNLEASHED) and produced by Stanimir "Staca" Lukic (MOONSPELL, KAMELOT, DEATHSTARS, TYPE O NEGATIVE).
