SOILWORK's DIRK VERBEUREN Laying Down Tracks On Ex-NEVERMORE Guitarist's Solo Album (Video)
September 19, 2011Sick Drummer Magazine has uploaded an exclusive video of Sick Drummer Camp guest instructor Dirk Verbeuren tracking drums at Fastback Studios in Seattle for former NEVERMORE guitarist Jeff Loomis' second solo album.
Verbeuren, who recorded eleven songs over four days, said about the project: "It was a great experience tracking drums to Jeff's awesome songs.
"I didn't receive all of the material beforehand, so the spontaneity was energizing.
"I'm in love with the Tama Superstar kit we got in for the occasion; it sounded truly amazing.
"Musically speaking, I think Jeff stepped it up big time on this record. Lots of inspired, diverse music and mind-blowing fretwork to look forward to!"
Loomis' new album is being produced by Aaron Smith (7 HORNS 7 EYES) and is scheduled for release in the spring of 2012 via Century Media Records.
Having just returned from rehearsals with Devin Townsend for the Canadian musician/producer's upcoming U.K. shows, Verbeuren is currently putting the finishing touches to the debut EP of his personal project BENT SEA, featuring vocals by Sven de Caluw (ABORTED) and a soon-to-be-announced guest bass player.
BENT SEA's sound is described as "old-school grindcore in the vein of NAPALM DEATH, TERRORIZER, REPULSION, BRUTAL TRUTH and ROTTEN SOUND."
It has been a busy summer for Verbeuren, with multiple SOILWORK festival appearances across the globe and current studio work with technical thrash metallers POWERMAD. Additionally, Verbeuren has created "Library Of The Extreme Volume III" in his personal Die Crawling Studio, which is due out this fall. "Volume III" is the follow-up to Verbeuren's acclaimed MIDI libraries "The Metal Foundry" and "Library Of The Extreme Vol. I & II", released through Toontrack.
