July 21, 2005

The third annual "Robb's MetalWorks Showcase", a yearly event held by San Antonio, cult-cable show "Robb's MetalWorks", marked the first appearance of Arlington, Texas doom metallers SOLITUDE AETURNUS in the area in over four years. The band made their live debut with their new lineup, which includes guitarist/founder John Perez, vocalist Rob Lowe, bassist-turned-guitarist Steve Moseley, along with new members, drummer Steve Nichols and bassist Ron McCain. SOLITUDE AETURNUS performed many of their classics and highlighted new material, which — according to the interview completed with "Robb's MetalWorks" — should see the light of day by year's end. Check out pictures of SOLITUDE AETURNUS' new lineup: Photo#1, Photo#2, Photo#3. The event, which also included performances by HELSTAR alumni and Houston newcomers ETERNITY BLACK, San Antonio's THE RUINED FEW & D-RAILED and young Austin thrash-masters BY ANY MEANS NECESSARY, took place this past Saturday (July 16) at Sam's Burger Joint and was attended by as some of Texas' metal legends, including James Rivera (HELSTAR, SEVEN WITCHES, KILLING MACHINE),Jason McMaster (WATCHTOWER, DANGEROUS TOYS),Chris Salinas (POWER OF OMENS) and members of John Perez's first band, ROTTING CORPSE. The entire affair was documented by "Robb's MetalWorks" and will air via Time Warner cable as a two-hour special in early 2006.
