SOULFLY Guitarist Interviewed In Italy
August 14, 2010SpazioRock.it conducted an interview with SOULFLY guitarist Marc Rizzo prior to the band's performance at this year's Gods of Metal festival, which was held June 25-27 in Turin, Italy. You can now watch the chat below.
As previously reported, SOULFLY will headline the 14th annual "D-Low Memorial" on Saturday, August 28 at the Marquee Theatre in Tempe, Arizona. Other bands that are confirmed to perform at the event are INCITE, HOWITZER, 49 TIL MIDNIGHT and NORTH OF NOWHERE.
The "D-Low" show is held every year in memory of SOULFLY mainman Max Cavalera's stepson, Dana Wells, who was killed in a car accident in 1996 (article). It is one of SOULFLY's biggest shows of the year and draws fans from all over the United States. In 2004, SOULFLY filmed portions of its "The Song Remains Insane" DVD at the event.
SOULFLY recently confirmed the departure of bassist Bobby Burns. According to the band, "The split was completely amicable and there was no animosity on either side."
Johny Chow, who has played with SOULFLY's Max Cavalera (guitar, vocals) and Marc Rizzo (guitar) in CAVALERA CONSPIRACY and is a member of FIREBALL MINISTRY, is loaning his skills to SOULFLY tours for the immediate future until the position is filled.
SOULFLY's new album, "Omen", sold 6,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 73 on The Billboard 200 chart.
SOULFLY's previous album, "Conquer", opened with 8,400 units back in August 2008 to land at position No. 66 on The Billboard 200 chart. This number was in line with the opening tally of the CD's predecessor, "Dark Ages", which shifted a little more than 8,000 copies during its first week of release in October 2005 to enter the chart at No. 155.
