SOUNDGARDEN Reissue Now Streaming Online
November 19, 2013According to The Pulse Of Radio, a brand new reissue of SOUNDGARDEN's very first record releases can be streamed using the SoundCloud widget below. The recordings are being reissued on CD, double vinyl and as a digital set next Tuesday (November 26) via Sub Pop Records, the legendary independent label that was the Seattle grunge act's first home. The set includes the band's entire debut EP, "Screaming Life", as well as bonus tracks from its second EP, "Fopp", and songs that appeared on the "Sub Pop 200" compilation, all initially issued in the late Eighties.
SOUNDGARDEN, which reunited in 2010 after a 13-year hiatus, still plays a few songs from these early records in its current live show.
Guitarist Kim Thayil told The Pulse Of Radio not long ago how it felt for the band to play its old songs again after many years. "Surprised at what we remembered, and also surprised at what we forgot," he said. "We remembered some of the most ridiculous things, and forgot the most obvious and easy things, so it was kind of strange. We'd play some stuff really intensely tight until about two minutes into it, and then we would kind of look at each other and say, 'What did we do there?'"
All the tracks have been remastered by producer Jack Endino and the LP versions are the first time the songs have been pressed to vinyl since the original releases.
SOUNDGARDEN is currently on a break after spending much of 2013 on tour in support of last year's reunion album, "King Animal", the group's first set of all-new music since 1996.
Lead singer Chris Cornell is currently on a solo acoustic tour that brings him to Providence, Rhode Island on Tuesday (November 19),while drummer Matt Cameron is on the road with PEARL JAM.
Cameron announced last week that he will sit out SOUNDGARDEN's 2014 live dates due to tour commitments with PEARL JAM and a desire to spend more time with his family. His temporary replacement has yet to be named.
