SPINESHANK Singer Says New Album Is 'Groundbreaking'

SPINESHANK frontman Jonny Santos has spoken to Kerrang! magazine about the making of their new album "Self Destructive Pattern", due on June 23 through Roadrunner Records.

Says Santos: "We definitely avoided monotony on this record. You don't know what's going to be beyond the next corner. Obviously we recreate the basic elements of what SPINESHANK is about, which is being a heavy band, yet a melodic band. We kind of backed off the electronics a bit on this record, and kept it a little bit more organic on certain songs because although we've established ourselves as an electronic-type band in the past, the genre has become a little saturated with bands like that bands that can't write a song and go, 'Let's throw a bunch of loops on it, it'll sound cool'. We wanted to avoid that this time around. We had to grow, we had to do something that, for us, was groundbreaking."
