SPV To Celebrate 25th Anniversary

December 19, 2008

SPV will celebrate its 25th anniversary in 2009. The label from Hanover, Germany was launched 25 years ago — on January 1, 1984 to be precise. What started with the sampler "Soundtrack zum Untergang" and bands such as TOXOPLASMA, SLIME, SODOM and DESTRUCTION soon threatened to burst the seams of the 100m² offices and 100m² storage rooms at Osterstraße. Today SPV operates from its own premises at Brüsseler Straße and have become one of the most important, successful and committed record companies in Europe. Since 1984, SPV has focused on metal and rock, supplying music to suit all tastes. To celebrate its anniversary, it has scheduled a whole range of exciting retail and re-release campaigns throughout 2009.

The SPV anniversary year will kick off with five download samplers, covering the themes Power Metal, Classic Rock Tracks Live, Thrash 'Em All, German Metal and Women In Rock. Starting on January 25, 2009, these samplers will be available at anniversary prices from all relevant European download stores. February will see the arrival of highly interesting LP releases (many of them available on vinyl again for the first time since the Eighties, some of them out on vinyl for the first time ever),among them ACCEPT's "Restless & Wild" and "Breaker"; "Hall Of The Mountain King", "Streets", "Power Of The Night" and "Gutter Ballet" by SAVATAGE; "The Crucible Of Man" (on double LP) by ICED EARTH and "Ghost Opera" and "The Black Halo" by KAMELOT.

In addition, there will be a large number of re-releases in 2009, by AXEL RUDI PELL, DESTRUCTION and SODOM, among others, all of them remastered using state-of-the-art technology and featuring interesting liner notes as well as exciting bonus material. More campaigns under the "25 & Alive – SPV" logo will be available throughout the anniversary year.
