ST. SATAN Records And Releases Album On Same Day

February 16, 2010

On February 6, ST. SATAN — the Bergen, Norway-based hard rock band featuring former and current members of BORKNAGAR, THE BATALLION, SLUT MACHINE, THE SWAMP BABIES, JAZKAMER, KRØYT and LOST AT LAST — recorded, mixed, mastered, printed and made its debut album, "Horns for Adornment", available online. The release party was held the same evening at Garage in Bergen.

Commented the group: "There's too many uninteresting metal bands these days, using the same boring recording method: putting instrument on instrument, to the beat of a computer processor, making each note perfectly in time until every bit of balls and guts have been taken out of the music. ST. SATAN want[ed] to capture the raw sound of a band playing together in a room at the same time — as simple as that."

"Horns for Adornment" was recorded at Duper Studios by Jørgen "Duperman" Træen, who has previously worked with such acts as EMPEROR and ENSLAVED. He immediately loved the idea, and insisted the album should be recorded directly on tape, old-school style.

Added ST. SATAN: "A lot of bands are whining about losing sales due to illegal filesharing and downloading. Well, if you haven't figured it out yet, if someone wants your album for free, they will find it. By recording 'Horns for Adornment' in one day, most of the cost of recording [were] covered by the ticket sales at the release party. And it [is], of course, available for both paid and free download."

ST. SATAN is:

Trond "Abs" Absalonsen (THE SWAMP BABIES, SLUT MACINE) - Vocals
Thomas "Thomaster" Dahl (KRØYT, SKOMSORK, MARION RAVEN) - Guitar
Kai K Lie (THE BATALLION, ex-BORKNAGAR) - Bass
Tarjei A Heggernes (LOST AT LAST) - Guitar
Nils A Drønen (JAZKAMER, DER BRIEF, TRIO GUD) - Drums
