STAIND's New Album Has An Official Title: 'The Space Between The Darkness And The Light'

October 15, 2026

STAIND frontman Aaron Lewis has revealed to Abe Kanan of Audacy that the band's upcoming album will be called "The Space Between The Darkness And The Light". As for a possible release date for the effort, Aaron said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): "I have no idea. I don't know when the record comes out. I know it'll come out soon. I know that it's done."

Regarding what fans can expect from the upcoming STAIND LP, Aaron said: "I'm pretty confident in saying that it's a hell of a record and I'm proud to put it out. And that's kind of where I've needed to be at the end of every writing and recording process for STAIND, is to be proud of it and feel like anybody could pick any song off the record and that could be a single, and I'd be perfectly okay with it. And that's where we got, and I think this is a great record, and I think it's a great continuation of the thread that you can follow in STAIND's music, which is my lyrical content. And it fits right in with everything before it perfectly."

Lewis added: "Basically, all the STAIND records — start from the beginning and move forward — has been an adult man trying to navigate his way through the wreckage that was left behind from childhood trauma. And I'm 54 years old now, and I'm still trying to make my way through the wreckage that was left behind."

Earlier this week, STAIND released a new single, "Ghosts", via Alchemy Recordings/BMG.

"Ghosts" marks STAIND's first new music drop since 2023's chart-topping "Confessions Of The Fallen" album. Once again, the quartet — Aaron Lewis (vocals, guitar),Mike Mushok (lead guitar),Johnny April (bass, backing vocals) and Sal Giancarelli (drums) — teamed up with producer Erik Ron (GODSMACK, BAD OMENS, PAPA ROACH) in the studio.

"Ghosts" opens with a chugging detuned riff punctuated by Mushok's signature harmonics. This deluge slips into the undertow of a stark verse pinned to April's ominous bass line and a head-nodding beat courtesy of Giancarelli. The groove quakes beneath Lewis's instantly recognizable vocals.

Distortion boosts an unshakable refrain, and the frontman laments, "Fading and failing…Ghosts that I've never found." Veering from one extreme to the next, the track alternates between a beautiful bridge and a bludgeoning last gasp powered by his guttural scream.

You could say "Ghosts" conjures the past, present, and future eras of STAIND all into one concentrated and cathartic burst of emotion and energy.

"We went down to Nashville for a writing trip with Erik," recalls Mushok. "We had gotten together, and I came up with the riff on the spot. From there, Erik and I put the track together in just one day and finished it up. Aaron listened to it a little later and did this really great vocal over it. 'Ghosts' ended up being a very dynamic song."

"It seemed like everybody had gravitated towards 'Ghosts'," adds Lewis. "It's a little different, and it surprised all of us. It's got some heavy elements, but it's certainly melodic too. It's definitely STAIND."

After selling out nearly every date of the first leg of the North American "Break The Cycle" 25th-anniversary tour, STAIND will return to the road for round two in 2027. Of course, they're celebrating 25 years of their breakout 2001 opus "Break The Cycle", which just picked up a seven-times-platinum certification, logged three weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 in the summer of its release, and spawned generational hits like "It's Been A While" and "Warm Safe Place". Thanks to a groundswell of fan support, the latter exploded on TikTok as 2026's most unexpected viral phenomenon, bringing the quartet's streams past the one-billion mark this year.

STAIND has also sold out most of the vinyl variations of its live record, "Break The Cycle (25th Anniversary Live)".

Produced by Live Nation, the 27-city date trek will feature special guests SEETHER and HOOBASTANK, joined by HINDER on all dates except Cleveland. The tour kicks off on March 6 at SNHU Arena in Manchester making stops in Pittsburgh, Dallas, Seattle and more before wrapping up in Cleveland at Rocket Arena on April 16.

STAIND is an American rock band from Springfield, Massachusetts, formed in 1995. The original lineup consists of lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist Aaron Lewis, lead guitarist Mike Mushok, bassist and backing vocalist Johnny April, and drummer Jon Wysocki. From day one, STAIND's sound was alternately crushing and comforting. They absorbed the teeth-kicking intensity of groove metal, the melodic grit of grunge, and the diaristic approach of dyed-in-the-wool singer-songwriters into a signature style. They have sold over 15 million records worldwide fueled by the double platinum "Dysfunction" (1999),seven-times platinum "Break The Cycle" (2001),platinum "14 Shades Of Grey" (2003) and platinum "Chapter V" (2005). Along the way, they earned five straight Top 5 debuts on the Billboard 200, including three consecutive No. 1 entries. "It's Been A While" logged a staggering 20 weeks at No. 1 on airwaves, making it one of the most-played songs in modern rock radio history. In 2023, they sent "Confessions Of The Fallen" to No. 1 on the Billboard Top Active Rock Albums chart and notched Active Rock Radio No. 1 hits "Lowest In Me" and "Here And Now". 2026 saw the beginning of a renaissance when the "Break The Cycle" deep cut "Warm Safe Place" surged on TikTok, giving the band its biggest year yet with over one billion annual streams. Forever pushing forward, STAIND celebrated a seminal moment with 2026's "Break the Cycle (Live)" (Alchemy Recordings/BMG) and the "Break The Cycle 25th Anniversary Tour".
