STATIC-X Name New Album, Confirm Drummer's Departure

June 4, 2003

STATIC-X have set "Shadow Zone" as the title of their upcoming third full-length album, currently being recorded at a Los Angeles studio with producer Josh Abraham (STAIND, LIMP BIZKIT, UNWRITTEN LAW).

The follow-up to 2001's "Machine" reveals the next step in the evolution of STATIC-X. Says founder/frontman Wayne Static, "I hate it when bands keep making the same record over and over, so we're pushing ourselves to try new things and experiment in our writing approach. I feel these are the strongest songs we've ever written."

The band — Static, bassist Tony Campos and guitarist Tripp Eisen — a leaner more refined unit with the departure of drummer Ken Jay earlier this year (Josh Freese of A PERFECT CIRCLE and THE VANDALS fame handled the duties in the studio and a touring replacement has not yet been chosen) — have also benefited from additional creative input from Eisen, who joined STATIC-X in 2001. "We've been working on these songs for over a year now and we've tried a lot of different grooves and sounds, but collaboration has been the key," says Eisen.

A string of U.S. dates this summer with STAIND should be the perfect way for fans to get a sample of what's to come from the new CD. "We're anxious to hit the road again and play some new songs for everyone, and we're equally excited to play along side our good friends STAIND," says Static.

STATIC-X will play several special warm-up shows in the Los Angeles area prior to hitting the road with STAIND in early July.
