STEELHEART frontman Mike Matijevic is the latest singer to have publicly admitted having auditioned for the vocalist slot in the new band featuring former GUNS N' ROSES members Slash (guitar),Duff McKagan (bass) and Matt Sorum (drums).

Matijevic, who is currently working on a new STEELHEART album, reportedly put down lead vocals over four instrumental songs submitted to him by the GN'R alumni as part of his audition, and is currently awaiting word from Slash and co. regarding a possible further collaboration.

The band, tentatively dubbed THE PROJECT, launched a highly publicized search for a singer last year, and have already auditioned a number of well-known candidates, including former SKID ROW frontman Sebastian Bach, ex-BUCKCHERRY singer Joshua Todd, DAYS OF THE NEW leader Travis Meeks, PSYCHOTICA's Pat Briggs, LIT's A. Jay Popoff and former NEUROTICA frontman Kelly Shaefer.
