STEEV ESQUIVEL Issues Update On SKINLAB, RE:IGNITION, DEFIANCE

October 30, 2007

Steev Esquivel (SKINLAB, RE:IGNITION, DEFIANCE) has issued the following update:

"First off, things are going great in the world of SKINLAB. Today will be the final day of mixing , as we've been getting rough mixes from Juan Urteaga, with bits of progress every time. Today Snake and I will join Juan for the last mix session and should be good to go.

"We're stoked to announce that our good friend Ikaro from ANKLA made a guest appearance on the song 'In For The Kill'. His voice sounds killer in the mix. Can't wait for everyone to hear this new shit. I think it's safe to say that the LAB is back and ready to record the sickest record of our career!!

"Oh yeah, we also got the test print of the new 'Digikill' EP cover, which is fuckin bad-ass. Can't wait to get this shit out... It's been way too long! We have also finalized our deal for the first-ever 'live' SKINLAB CD, which will surface early 2008 followed by the long-awaited DVD.

"RE:IGNITION has started writting new material for the next album. We hope to jump in and start recording some demos before the end of the year and start shopping for a new deal. If things go right we'll be in the studio by mid-2008.

"Our European tour is being put together right now. It's a bit to early to announce, but we've been invited to be apart of a rockin' package that will have us rolling throughout Europe in February/March.

"Oh yeah, remember that video we did for 'Head On'? Well, we finally hijacked the footage and have it in our grubby 'lil hands. We're talking to people right now and working out who will be doing the final edits.

"DEFIANCE: Well, I finally got my ass in the studio and completed one song for the upcoming release. Once again back at Trident studios working with producer Juan Urteaga, this shit sounds fuckin sick!!! No shit, I mean, after almost 15 years of not being a band the guys wrote an amazing record. And a true DEFIANCE record at that. The guitars and bass are fuckin brutal, the absolute best tones the band has ever had. The drums are amazing — Mark Hernandez really stepped things up, tons of slammin double bass; the kid was on fire and it shows. Vocally, it's got to be one of the most challenging recordings I have ever done. It's been awhile since I had to sing to music tuned as high as DEFIANCE (E 440). Definitely a challenge as I'm pushing myself to return to more of a singing style verses my SKINLAB voice, which is much lower and more aggressive than what is called for in DEFIANCE.

"I'm really stoked to be apart of the album and doing my best to make the old-school DEFIANCE fans happy as well as making our brother Dougie proud…

"DEDVOLT: I've been trying to get this off the ground for a while now, with almost an album's worth of material. We'll be putting this project in full swing at the end of 2008. It's a bit too early to announce any of the members I've lined up... but I will be sharing vocall duties with my close friend and one of my favorite singers in the scene today. It's gonna be a blast. Check out the early stages of the project at www.myspace.com/dedvolt."
