STEVEN TYLER Gets Slammed For National Anthem Performance

January 22, 2012

AEROSMITH frontman Steven Tyler sang the national anthem before today's (Sunday, January 22) Baltimore Ravens vs. New England PatriotsAFC Championship game at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts. Video footage of his performance can be seen below.

Early reviews of Tyler's rendition of "The Star-Spangled Banner" were not very good, with one football fan writing on Twitter, "Steven Tyler's national anthem before the Patriots/Ravens game couldn't have been any worse if John Madden farted it through a harmonica."

Tyler's May 27, 2001 version of the national anthem at the 85th Indianapolis 500 — where he came under criticism after he replaced "home of the brave'" with "home of the Indianapolis 500" — in 2010 made Billboard magazine's "10 worst national anthem performances ever."

Tyler immediately apologized and reaffirmed his patriotism after the incident.

Billboard magazine's "10 worst national anthem performances ever" (as of July 2010):

01. Kat DeLuna, 2008
02. Roseanne Barr, 1990
03. Michael Bolton, 2003
04. Scott Stapp, 2005
05. Aaron Neville, Aretha Franklin and Dr. John, 2006
