STONE SOUR's Studio Tour
May 11, 2010In the clip below (posted by AOL's Noisecreep),STONE SOUR bassist Shawn Economaki is your friendly tour guide through Blackbird Studios, the state-of-the-art Nashville recording compound where the band is recording its third album, "Audio Secrecy", for a summer release via Roadrunner Records. Economaki introduces the viewers to engineer Paul Figueroa as he's listening to one of the new STONE SOUR tracks through the studio's massive mixing console; and to Martin Connors, one of STONE SOUR's guitar techs, who is busy tuning one of their many axes. In another section of the exclusive webisode, you'll see Economaki laying down some bass to the playback of an as-yet-untitled new track off the upcoming CD.
According to a press release, frontman Corey Taylor said about the record, "'Audio Secrecy' is the summation of everything we want, everything we crave and everything we fight for. The dimensions go further than anything we've ever tried before. It's metal, rock, slow, soft, hard, fast, bitter, beautiful and most importantly, it's REAL. You can't get an album like this out of a band that doesn't exist. We're throwing caution out the damn window."
There's no word on whether STONE SOUR's sessions at Blackbird were affected by the recent flooding which decimated Nashville.
"Audio Secrecy" is the follow-up to STONE SOUR's gold-certified 2006 second album, "Come What(ever) May", which debuted at No. 4 on the Billboard album chart and included the hits "Through Glass", "Sillyworld" and "Made Of Scars".
Taylor and guitarist James Root are also members of SLIPKNOT.
The new disc will come out later this summer, just as STONE SOUR embarks on the inaugural Uproar Festival tour with AVENGED SEVENFOLD and DISTURBED. The trek kicks off on August 17 in Minneapolis and will hit 36 cities.
