STRAPPING YOUNG LAD Guitarist Issues Post-NAMM Update

January 30, 2007

STRAPPING YOUNG LAD guitarist Jed Simon has posted the following message on the group's MySpace page:

"Well, it's been a week since NAMM [National Association of Music Merchants, Jan 18-21 in Anaheim, California]. It's taken awhile to digest that whole experience. There is so much to see, and if you're unprepared, it can wear you out in a hurry. For a first-timer like myself, it was simply overwhelming. I'm glad I had a lot of veteran 'NAMM-ers' there to guide me through it. [EXODUS guitarist] Gary Holt said it best... 'After three hours, you'll be looking for the bar.' I think I had a drink in my hands before 30 minutes were up… Good advice, brother. I saw a lot of friends there over the course of the weekend, and it was cool to hang and sip a few too many with you. I look forward to it again next year.

"Aside from the hanging out and visiting, it was great to visit some of my other endorsers and say hello, some of whom I had not met yet. Hails to GHS/Rocktron, Groove Tubes, Mesa Boogie, EMG, BBE, InTune GP, and of course, Bernie Rico Jr.

"It is an honor to be part of the BRJ family. They welcomed me from the first meeting and it was a pleasure to be part of their NAMM showing.

"I wish I would have taken more photos but it was just too overwhelming, I hardly had time to think. And of course, I needed time to drink as well! Bernie took a bunch of pics too, so I'll post some of those when I get 'em.

"So, thanks to all for a memorable first NAMM experience.

"To sum it up in two words... good times."

Simon recently uploaded three demo tracks from his TENET project at the official TENET MySpace page. Check out the songs "Indulge Me", "Unnameable" and "Crown of Thorns" at this location.

As previously reported, Jed has finished tracking the rhythm guitars for TENET's debut album, "Sovereign", tentatively due later in the year via Century Media Records.

TENET features in its ranks Simon, former CRADLE OF FILTH drummer Adrian Erlandsson and ex-FORBIDDEN/TESTAMENT guitarist Glen Alvelais.

STRAPPING YOUNG LAD's latest CD, "The New Black" was released in July 2006 via Century Media.
