STRAPPING YOUNG LAD/ZIMMERS HOLE Guitarist Mourns Loss Of Stepmother

April 8, 2008

Guitarist Jed Simon (ZIMMERS HOLE, STRAPPING YOUNG LAD, TENET) has issued the following update:

"It is with great sadness, and a heavy heart, that I announce the passing of my stepmother, Elizabeth (Liz) Simon, after a short and courageous battle with cancer.

"Liz has been a mother to me for over 25 years and I can't express how much it hurts.

"Liz and my father, Reg, were married 34 years. And I know, from many years of watching them, what true love really is.

"So now, when I speak of my wife Susanna to any member of the family, I tell them that I have found my 'Liz'...

"My Dad has lost the light of his life, and I can't imagine the hurt he is feeling. He used to refer to her as 'My Little Chickadee,' amongst other little gems. It was always meant as a term of endearment and was never callous in meaning. Liz would just smile, give my Dad 'The Look,' and say, 'Oh, Reg'...it gives me a little chuckle when I think of it.

"That's what I will always remember: the sweetness, the selfless giving of her character, and the genuine love of her family.

"A friend of the family was telling my Dad today to not dwell on the bad times, always remember the good times, and my Dad looks up and says... 'There were no bad times,' and then he smiled. That warmed my heart beyond words, and serves as inspiration that I will carry with me the rest of my life.

"They were truly 'two peas in a pod.' That pod's name is Simon...and I'm so very proud."
