STRYPER Frontman: 'Spirituality Is About A One-On-One Relationship With God'
February 21, 2011MÖTLEY CRÜE/SIXX: A.M. bassist Nikki Sixx posted the following message on his Twitter account: "I love seeing all of you debate stuff here on Twitter and my Facebook page...Today's debate between religion vs. siprituality — really inspirational."
In response, guitarist/vocalist Michael Sweet of Christian hard rockers STRYPER wrote on his Twitter account: "@NikkiSixx — you ask a question I couldn't resist. Religion, unfortunately, can separate people with traditions, rules and regulations that cause many to believe that their religion is the only true one and all others are wrong for thinking and believing what they believe. Spirituality, however (in my opinion),is about a one-on-one relationship with God, believing in and living a life that exemplifies love, grace, peace and mercy to all others, despite what they believe."
Sixx will release "This Is Gonna Hurt: Music, Photography And Life Through The Distorted Lens Of Nikki Sixx", a follow-up to his New York Times bestseller, "The Heroin Diaries", on April 12. The book, part photo chronicle and part journal, will be accompanied by the release of an original soundtrack from SIXX: A.M., an 11-track companion piece to the book, which will hit stores May 3.
STRYPER's new covers album, "The Covering", was released on February 15 via Big3 Records. The CD, produced by frontman Michael Sweet, is unlike any previous STRYPER recording in that it's a collection of cover songs from bands that inspired them and helped to shape their sound and musical identity, including hits from JUDAS PRIEST, IRON MAIDEN, LED ZEPPELIN, KANSAS and many others. "The Covering" also includes "God", a new original recording from STRYPER.
