STRYPER's MICHAEL SWEET On U.S. Presidential Race: 'There's Major Flaws With Both' Candidates

August 10, 2016

STRYPER frontman Michael Sweet was interviewed for the latest episode of the "Talking Metal" podcast. You can now listen to the chat using the Spreaker widget below.

Asked if he has been following the U.S. presidential race, Sweet said: "In the past few weeks, not as much, but prior to that, I was really staying up on everything, watching all the debates and everything going on.

"It's crazy. It's kind of sad that we really don't have, in both candidates, someone that we can trust or really get behind like we should. There's major flaws with both. And when you're running for president of the United States, you shouldn't have too many flaws. And it's just crazy to me. It's a little concerning to see where we're at as a country. I don't know that I've, in my lifetime, seen as much division in the country; there's just so much division right now."

STRYPER's "To Hell With The Devil" 30th-anniversary world tour, which will kick off this fall, will feature all four original members, complete with the original yellow-and-black costumes.

Sweet's seventh solo album, "One Sided War", will be released on August 26 via Rat Pak Records. Backing Michael on the record are WHITESNAKE guitarist Joel Hoekstra, EVANESCENCE drummer Will Hunt, bassist John O'Boyle and East Coast shred-master Ethan Brosh.
