SUIDAKRA To Join PAGANFEST USA Tour For Six West Coast Dates

January 16, 2008

German melodic black/death metallers SUIDAKRA have issued the following update:

"Although 2007 was a great year for SUIDAKRA, we eagerly look forward to some great opportunities on the horizon for us in 2008! After being confirmed to make our debut at Chicago Powerfest (May 1-3),we can proudly announce that SUIDAKRA will join Paganfest USA as special guests on the six West Coast dates. The dates are as follows (subject to change):

May 05 - Seattle, WA - Studio Seven
May 06 - Portland, OR - Hawthorne Theater
May 07 - Sacramento, CA - The Boardwalk
May 08 - Hollywood, CA - House of blues
May 09 - [to be announced]
May 10 - Long Beach, CA - The Vault

"Paganfest USA will be storming the stage with the likes of ENSIFERUM, TURISAS, TYR and ELUVEITIE. It shall indeed be a unique experience for fans, as a blend of Viking/folk bands like this has never been seen in a tour on U.S. soil before and we're happy to be a part of it for those six shows! However, we still need your support for this adventure! More precisely, let's face it: we need help with financing this trip! Be assured that we would not use it to fill our pockets up, but more to the contrary — we are paying for this trip out of our own pocket and need to make sure that the expenses for traveling will not ruin us. If you have an idea to help sponsor SUIDAKRA, please contact Alina Michelle by sending her a message via her MySpace page."

SUIDAKRA's upcoming DVD and "best-of" CD package will feature the band's Wacken Open Air 2007 performance and will be released in early 2008.

SUIDAKRA's video for the song "The IXth Legion" can be viewed below. The track comes off the group's latest CD, "Caledonia", which was released in Europe in November 2006 via Armageddon Music. The follow-up to 2005's "Command to Charge" was recorded by Martin Buchwalter at Gernhart Records studio in Siegburg, Germany and features artwork by Kris Verwimp. The album photography was handled by Axel Jusseit, who previously worked with the group on 2003's "Signs for the Fallen". The mastering was done by Michael Schwabe at Monoposto Mastering (SUBWAY TO SALLY, DIE TOTEN HOSEN) in Düsseldorf, Germany.

According to the band, "'Caledonia' adopts the lyrical concept of ancient Scottish history, which explains songtitles such as 'Highland Hills', 'Forth-Clyde' and 'The IXth Legion'."
