SUN CAGED Guitarist Commences Work On New Solo Album

October 31, 2004

Guitarist Marcel Coenen of the Dutch progressive metallers SUN CAGED is currently working on a new solo album. "A few songs have been written already," reads a posting on the group's web site. "The album will be quite different from 'Guitartalk' since it will feature songs with vocals. The mix will be 50/50. Marcel found some great guest singers. The album will also be recorded with real drums, three guest drummers will be featured on the album."

In related news, former SUN CAGED vocalist Andre Vuurboom is currently busy with his new project/band called SPHERE OF SOULS. The group, who are slated to release their new album is in 2005, features Joost van den Broek (ex-SUN CAGED, AFTER FOREVER) on keyboards, Anand Mahangoe on guitars, Kees Harrison (ex-AUTUMN EQUINOX) on bass and Patrick Gerritzen (ex-IMPERIUM) on drums. SPHERE OF SOULS' upcoming CD will be a concept album with a wide range of influences, from FATES WARNING to MACHINE HEAD to PSYCHOTIC WALTZ and more. Production and mixing will be handled by Joost van den Broek. Additional musicians will be announced soon.
