September 15, 2006

Two new "Rock Star: Supernova" tracks — featuring singer Lukas Rossi alongside Tommy Lee (MÖTLEY CRÜE),Jason Newsted (VOIVOD, ex-METALLICA),and Gilby Clarke (ex-GUNS N' ROSES) — have been posted online at the band's MySpace page. Listen to the tracks "It's All Love" and "Be Yourself & 5 Other Cliches" at this location.

In other news, Lukas Rossi will be interviewed on "The Ellen Degeneres Show" today (Friday, September 15) at 4:00 p.m. on NBC. Check your local listings for further information.

Over the course of the summer, "Rock Star: Supernova" searched among 15 contestants to find the most dynamic leader for a band whose players are among the most respected musicians in the world. As music fans across the country voted, Gilby, Tommy and Jason helped guide the process to eliminate performers every week to arrive at the final selection.

The band will be touring in support of its Epic Records debut. The yet-to-be-titled album will be produced by Butch Walker (AVRIL LAVIGNE, BOWLING FOR SOUP, PINK) and released on November 21.

As previously reported, the Rossi-fronted SUPERNOVA band may have to change its name before it even starts recording or touring after a Californian band with the same name won a preliminary injunction against the new SUPERNOVA outfit.

They are banned from "performing rock and roll music, or recording, or selling rock and roll music recordings under the same [name], pending a trial of this action on its merits, or until otherwise ordered by the court," MTV reported, quoting San Diego Judge John Houston.

The original SUPERNOVA group formed in 1989 and are best known for their song "Chewbacca" which appeared on the soundtrack to the film "Clerks".
