SUSPERIA: Norwegian Dates Announced

July 30, 2009

Norway's SUSPERIA continues to ease its way back into live action with vocalist Athera (real name: Pål Mathiesen) on a short tour of the band's home country in September.

Confirmed dates are as follows:

Sep. 02 - Hulen, Bergen, Norway
Sep. 03 - Union Scene, Drammen, Norway
Sep. 04 - John Dee, Oslo, Norway
Sep. 05 - Maskinistenes Hus, Tønsberg, Norway
Sep. 09 - Scene 37, Horten, Norway

The shows come on the back of Athera's successful return to the stage at Norway's Steinkjer Festival in June. The singer, who suffered a heart attack earlier this year which resulted in major open heart surgery, has made a rapid recovery and is looking forward to touring once again. He said, "I can't wait to get back on the road again. It's something that at one point I thought I would never experience again, so I'm grabbing this opportunity with both hands."

SUSPERIA is currently working on a video for the song "Character Flaw" with up-and-coming director/producer Daniel William Bones. Filming took place in Oslo last month and the footage is now being edited. The performance video will continue the apocalyptic theme featured in the artwork on the band's latest album, "Attitude", which was released in May through Candlelight Records. The follow-up to 2007's "Cut From Stone" was recorded in Norway and was mixed at Studio Fredman in Sweden. It features guest appearances by Chuck Billy (TESTAMENT) and Shagrath (DIMMU BORGIR).

Trønder-Avisa, a regional newspaper in Norway, has posted performance footage and an interview with Athera conducted at the Steinkjer Festival. Watch the Norwegian-language report at this location.

SUSPERIA enlisted Bernt Fjellestad from fellow Norwegian band GUARDIANS OF TIME to stand in for vocalist Athera for the group's recent U.K. tour.

An e-card for "Attitude" can be accessed at this location.
