Sweden's GATES OF METAL Festival Cancelled

February 13, 2007

Olof Wikström, organizer for Sweden's Gates Of Metal festival, has issued the following statement regarding the cancellation of this year's event which was scheduled for August 3-4:

"With grief in my heart I hereby announce that there unfortunately will be no Gates of Metal 2007.

"Even though last year's festival was a fantastic event, which received some unexpected media interest, we sadly didn't reach our desired goals. Therefore we decided to put the festival at rest for a year in order to catch up economically, thus securing its future survival. Our plan is to get everything in working order and catch our breath to be able to return with even more impact in 2008.

"We have felt a great support during the four previous years. With this in mind we have decided not to risk what we have built together with our audience, our suppliers and the artists by staging yet an unprofitable festival. Instead we choose to focus on delivering an unforgettable Gates of Metal in 2008!

"Nevertheless the Gates of Metalbåten; the Gates of Metal Cruise, will take place April 26-27, presenting a line-up including W.A.S.P., EVERGREY, DARK FUNERAL, NOCTURNAL RITES, NAGLFAR and others."
