September 13, 2005

Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet is reporting that the legendary Swedish AOR/hard rock group TREAT have reformed and are in the process of writing new material. The band, who were successful in Sweden, Japan and Germany in the late '80s, are are planning to release a "greatest hits" album next spring featuring three brand-new songs.

"We did our last gig in March 1993. Since then we're never appeared on stage together," guitarist and founder Anders Wikström told Aftonbladet.

"Because I started the band, I've been contacted by a lot of people in the last year who think that we should do something new. The winds from the Eighties are blowing again."

Anders Wikström is a succesful producer and songwriter and has penned songs for pop artists like 'N SYNC and A-TEENS.

"We all hold down regular jobs and really don't need to do this [reunion]," Wikström said. "We're just doing it because it's fun and we hope other people will feel the same way."

TREAT's current lineup is completed by Jamie Borger (drums),Robert Ernlund (vocals),Björn "Nalle" Pålsson (bass) and Patrik Appelgren (keyboards).

TREAT split up in 1993 after releasing a self-titled album featuring the services of vocalist Mats Levén (YNGWIE MALMSTEEN, AT VANCE, ABSTRAKT ALGEBRA, DOGFACE, KRUX, SOUTHPAW).
