SYSTEM OF A DOWN Bassist Directing 'Hypnotize' Video

September 20, 2005

Billboard.com is reporting that SYSTEM OF A DOWN are currently finishing production on a video for the title track from the group's upcoming album, "Hypnotize". The album is due in November via American. The clip is being directed by the band's bassist, Shavo Odadjian, who had previously directed four of his band's videos, including the recent "Question!".

"To tell you the truth, I really didn't want to direct this video," Odadjian told Billboard.com. "I wanted some time off. We have a week and a half between tours and I really didn't want to do a video — I just wanted to be in the video and let it happen. But after reading 15 treatments of garbage and me having a good idea — if I don't tell my band my idea, it's an injustice to the band and myself — I told them my idea. And everyone ripped up all of those treatments and said, 'You're doing the video.' So, that's why I'm here."
