January 29, 2002

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

SYSTEM OF A DOWN TO HEADLINE OZZFEST 2002

American Recordings artist SYSTEM OF A DOWN has been confirmed on this year's Ozzfest which is expected to kick off in July. The band is slated to headline, taking the stage just before Ozzy's closing set.

SYSTEM OF A DOWN have played Ozzfest twice before — in 1998, they played the Second Stage, and the following year, they opened the Main Stage.

SYSTEM OF A DOWN is currently hotter than ever with their sophomore album Toxicity having achieved platinum-plus status. The band received a 2002 Grammy nomination for the smash single "Chop Suey!" in the category of Best Metal performance, and saw Toxicity named one of the Best Albums of the Year in publications such as Spin, Rolling Stone, and Time.

Toxicity's title track is currently exploding at rock and alternative radio, and its companion video makes its MTV debut today. SYSTEM, who have just returned from an SRO tour of Australia and New Zealand, will kick off a 12-city headlining U.S. tour on February 14.

Dates, cities, and other details for Ozzfest 2002 will be announced shortly by the Ozzfest camp.
