TANKARD To Perform At Berlin's Olympic Stadium

April 26, 2006

Veteran German thrashers TANKARD will be performing at Berlin's Olympic stadium this Saturday, April 29 at the invitation of local soccer team Eintracht Frankfurt. A posting on TANKARD's official web site reads as follows:

"There are moments that are almost as great as TANKARD's new album 'The Beauty And The Beer'. For his whole life TANKARD singer Gerre has been fan of the football team Eintracht Frankfurt. He even [wrote] a hymn for them and recorded it together with TANKARD. But that exactly this hymn would be the reason for his big moment one day he couldn't have imagined.

"You won't believe, but Eintracht Frankfurt have made it into the final of the popular DFB-Pokal [German Cup] match. And you won't believe it either, but the team has asked TANKARD to play their hymn at the final in Berlin's Olympic Stadium this Saturday!

"Yesterday evening the band got the okay to do that. Gerre is more than happy now: 'This is the fulfilment of a dream for me. We will for sure stay sober when we enter the football field for performing the song…' As we said: you won't believe it…"

TANKARD's new album, "The Beauty and the Beer", was recorded with producer Andy Classen at Stage One studio in Bühne, Germany for a May 26 release via AFM Records.

"The Beauty and the Beer" is the follow-up to 2004's "Beast of Bourbon", which was also recorded at Stage One with Classen and featured cover artwork by Sebastian Krüger, who had previously worked for the magazine Spiegel.

TANKARD's first double DVD, "Fat, Ugly And Still (A)Live", was issued last October.
