TAPROOT 'Almost Finished' Recording New Album
August 23, 2007Bassist Phil Lipscomb of the Ann Arbor, Michigan hard rock band TAPROOT has issued the following update:
"I've been getting a lot of messages from people asking me for album updates, so now I'm FINALLY getting around to telling you guys what's going on. WE ARE FINISHED!!!...almost. As far as recording goes, I'm going to be re-recording my bass on the verses of one of our songs to give it a different feel (something a little more straight-forward than I did before) and one little vocal part on another song is going to be redone, and then WE'LL BE FINISHED!!!...almost. Then comes mixing and mastering, getting the albums printed, promo for the album, getting it distributed in stores, iTunes, etc., etc. Still some time to go, but the end is in sight. I'm sure everyone wants a release date so they can mark their calendars and have something to look forward to, but for now we really don't know. I don't even want to give an estimate because sometimes things just take longer than expected. Thank you all for your patience, and I hope you feel it's worth the wait. I'm also going to be bringing TaprooTube [TAPROOT video channel] back soon, I have lots of footage I've been playing with, but I'm working with a new video program (Final Cut) which although has a ton more features than Windows Movie Maker, it's also a lot more complicated and takes me a bit longer to get things done. Soon, though, soon..."
TAPROOT's follow-up to 2005's "Blue-Sky Research" is reportedly being produced by Tim Patalan. It's unknown yet if it will be released independently or through a major label.
The new album will be the band's first since parting with Atlantic Records in June 2006. They're also reportedly working on a DVD, but there's no word as to when that will see the light of day.
TAPROOT, which formed in 1997, is perhaps best known for its 2002 album, "Welcome". It included the hit singles "Poem" and "Welcome".
