TAPROOT Defines Itself Some More On Upcoming Album

March 4, 2008

Ann Arbor, Michigan hard rock band TAPROOT has issued the following update:

"As everyone knows by now, our latest album, 'Our Long Road Home', is officially mixed and mastered. The album as a whole takes you on a journey that expresses many different moods and feelings. This isn't a 'metal' album or a 'pop' album or an 'alternative' album or whatever people are calling music these days... It's a TAPROOT album, and if you're familiar with our previous bodies of work, you'll know what we mean. We haven't so much 'redefined' ourselves with this album, but rather defined ourselves more. You get to know a little bit more about us and see our growth as people and musicians. As our fans you have been a part of this journey as much as we have, and it's been your help and undying support that has gotten us to where we are now. Having been a minute since we've released new music, we would love to see all of you die-hards continue to spread the word. Send a blank email to [email protected] and they'll give you details as to how to help. We're ramping it back up again, dropping a new song is just the beginning."

TAPROOT has posted a new song, entitled "You're Not Home Tonight", on the group's official blog. The track comes off "Our Long Road Home", which is due later in the year via an as-yet-undisclosed label.

TAPROOT's follow-up to 2005's "Blue-Sky Research" was reportedly produced by Tim Patalan and is the band's first album since parting with Atlantic Records in June 2006. They're also reportedly working on a DVD, but there's no word as to when that will see the light of day.

Bassist Phil Lipscomb previously stated about the new CD's title, "[it] is a unique and expressive tribute to our newly found collective freedom of creativity as a band, with no strings attached. It's a tribute to the casual and comfortable settings of being at home with friends and family — a place we love to be."

TAPROOT, which formed in 1997, is perhaps best known for its 2002 album, "Welcome". It included the hit singles "Poem" and "Welcome".
