Teenage Death/Black Metal Fan Arrested In Killing Of Radio Journalist

March 26, 2009

The 16-year-old boy arrested in the fatal stabbing of the radio journalist George Weber was a death/black metal fan who used MySpace to profess his love for sex, violence, knives and Satanism, according to Gawker.com. He was ordered held without bail late Wednesday on charges of second-degree murder and criminal possession of a weapon.

Officials said the teenager, John Katehis (pictured below),of East Elmhurst, Queens, New York apparently answered a Craigslist ad in which Weber, 47, sought a sexual partner, according to The New York Times. The police believed Weber planned to pay Katehis for sex. The police commissioner, Raymond W. Kelly, said that the two had arranged to meet on Wednesday, March 18 in Carroll Gardens, Brooklyn, but rescheduled the meeting for Friday evening.

His playlist on MySpace included selections from DIMMU BORGIR, NAGLFAR and MARILYN MANSON.
