TESTAMENT, CANCER BATS Frontmen Interviewed On 'Mars Attacks' Podcast
September 10, 2010Chuck Billy from TESTAMENT and Liam Cormier from CANCER BATS were interviewed by host Victor M. Ruiz for the latest episode of the "Mars Attacks" podcast. You can now stream the podcast using the audio player below.
In a recent interview with LoudTrax.com, Chuck Billy stated about the songwriting process for TESTAMENT's follow-up to 2008's "The Formation Of Damnation", "We really want to pretend like we're still writing songs for 'The Formation Of Damnation'. We kind of just want to have that mindset and write 10 more tunes as if they were supposed to be on that record."
Regarding the band's continued collaboration with acclaimed British producer Andy Sneap (MEGADETH, MACHINE HEAD, ARCH ENEMY, EXODUS, NEVERMORE),Billy said, "He's a musician first of all before being a producer, and so he understands the style of music and what it takes. If you get a producer who hasn't produced a metal band before, it won't sound good even though he does a good job with big bands that aren't metal. There's a real art to making fast drums and heavy guitars sound clean. So there is a challenge for mixing metal bands and I think Andy's really got a grasp on that as a musician."
CANCER BATS' third studio album, "Bears, Mayors, Scraps & Bones", sold around 600 copies in the United States in its first week of release. The CD landed at position No. 95 on the Top New Artist Albums (Heatseekers) chart, which lists the best-selling albums by new and developing artists, defined as those who have never appeared in the Top 100 of The Billboard 200.
"Bears, Mayors, Scraps & Bones" was made available on April 13 via Good Fight Music. CANCER BATS also released a digital EP containing "Scared to Death" and its take on the BEASTIE BOYS classic "Sabotage". The EP is available on iTunes right now.
Since releasing "Bears, Mayors, Scraps and Bones", the Juno-nominated CANCER BATS has graced the pages of Eye Weekly, Revolver, Kerrang!, Alternative Press, and countless other top-tier publications across the globe. They tore up the stage in front of 40,000 people at Download festival, raged with the crowds of over 150,000 at Rock Am Ring and Rock Im Park in Germany and played alongside heavyweights EVERY TIME I DIE, BILLY TALENT, ALEXISONFIRE and NORMA JEAN. The CANCER BATS recently had a song featured in Canadian sci-fi thriller "Splice" starring Sarah Polley, which hit theatres June 4, and was inducted into the "Rock Band" song network, with four of their tracks now available to download for PS3 and Xbox.
