TESTAMENT Frontman Checks In

April 29, 2009

Vocalist Chuck Billy of San Francisco Bay Area thrash metal veterans TESTAMENT has issued the following update:

"TESTAMENT is about to embark on a killer North American tour and I am stoked!!! 'The Formation Of Damnation' took us all over the world playing 126 gigs so far since the release of [the album] in April 2008. We even played rare shows in Eindhoven and London where we got to perform our first two albums. It was incredible being on stage with our original lineup performing songs from the early days of our career. It made us realize that we have a whole new generation of fans out there who love to thrash. Now we are coming home and there is nothing better than headlining stages coast to coast. We are thrilled to be able to brutalize the nation and to be bringing some class-A metal acts — UNEARTH and LAZARUS A.D. — along for the ride.

"Dudes, we have something sick planned for you. We know times are tough and it is hard to get out there and spend the money on a ticket, so we are making this tour yours. It is your choice what we play. Check out the brand new contest live on our MySpace page and vote on three setlists to determine our musical fate for the evening. We promise whichever set wins, we will get out on stage every night and kick your mothafucking ass... Also, for the first time ever, we have VIP packages for sale. Not only does the VIP package include a ticket to the show but... hey, go ahead have a drink on us! ...and with us, you will hang with us and check out our soundcheck, plus receive an autographed poster, collectible laminate, TESTAMENT music skins, a very special limited edition merch item and you will be entered into a raffle to win one of our not even out yet Darkstar TESTAMENT skateboard, as well as Eric Peterson's signature Dean guitar Old Skull V, and more! So don’t waste time; take a look at our dates, see when we are coming to your city, buy a ticket to the show and get into the pit!"

In other news, Chuck Billy is now on TheLiveLine.

About TheLiveLine: In the spring of 2008, MEGADETH's Dave Mustaine and friend Scott Holmen approached the founders and president of SmartReply, Inc. with Dave's concept of using their technology to engage fans and artists. This innovative platform would serve as a way for fans to let the artists know what they are up to and for artists to keep fans informed of what is going on in their world.

Prosthetic Records has just released "Live at Eindhoven '87", a complete recording of TESTAMENT's performance at the 1987 edition of the Dynamo Open Air festival. A metal history lesson of the highest order, "Live at Eindhoven '87" sees the group's original lineup — vocalist Chuck Billy, guitarists Alex Skolnick and Eric Peterson, bassist Greg Christian, and drummer Louie Clemente — at their absolute hungriest.

In addition to recently re-releasing TESTAMENT's 1997 album "Demonic" — hailed as "the most evil-sounding album of their career" (AMG) — and 1999's "The Gathering" (praised by Metal Hammer as the most important metal album of the late '90s),as well as the 2001 re-recordings collection "First Strike Still Deadly", Prosthetic has also just reissued "Demonic" and "The Gathering" on gatefold, etched double-vinyl. Strictly limited to 1,000 copies each, each pressing also includes 100 colored LPs (gold for "The Gathering", red for "Demonic").

Chuck Billy was interviewed by Eric Blair of "The Blairing Out With Eric Blair Show" on the "black carpet" of this month's (April 7) Epiphone Revolver Golden Gods Awards at Club Nokia in downtown Los Angeles. Watch the chat below.
