TESTAMENT 'Writing Rehearsals' Underway

Long-running San Francisco Bay Area metallers TESTAMENT have issued the following update:

"TESTAMENT 'writing rehearsals' got underway the weekend of April 14, 2007. YES, they are *really* working on the next record! Alex [Skolnick, guitar] was back east due to shows with the ALEX SKOLNICK TRIO.

"The guys leave for Mexico/South America this week."

TESTAMENT singer Chuck Billy, bassist Greg Christian, and guitarists Alex Skolnick and Eric Peterson, alongside new drummer Nick Barker (ex-DIMMU BORGIR, CRADLE OF FILTH),have finished writing more than half a dozen new songs for the group's long-awaited follow-up to 1999's "The Gathering". Tracking is scheduled to begin in June. "Working hard with Nick on some new ideas and some cool old-school styles [that are] coming together really killer," Peterson previously said in a statement. "It's been a long time coming," Billy added. "This new album is like a good wine: You throw in the grapes and crush."
