6TH AWAKENING Parts Ways With Drummer

April 8, 2007

Umeå, Sweden-based, female-fronted metal band 6TH AWAKENING has parted ways with drummer Mikael Linné. The group's statement on the matter reads as follows:

"We have a sad sad announcement to make. For seven years we have had the pleasure of having one of the finest drummers around in our family. During these years Mikael has been struggling to follow a path that several bands in the genre spit on. This has sometimes put 6TH AWAKENING and mostly Mikael in a situation where personal belifes have been compromised. This has been a situation that during the last month has been all-consuming and we as a band have come to the conclusion that 6TH AWAKENING and Mikael will part ways. We wish Mikael all the best in the future."

6TH AWAKENING recently signed a deal with the Bainbridge Island, Washington label Aphotic Records. The group will enter the studio later in the year to begin recording its debut album for a tentative summer release.

6TH AWAKENING's most recent recording was a four-song demo/EP, entitled "Deadincide". All four cuts from the CD — "Black", "The One", "Dreamworld", and "Songs of Moab" — are available for free download from the group's official web site. A video for the song "Tongue Reaper" can be viewed at this location (Windows Media).
