THE ABSENCE Checks In From The Road

October 8, 2008

Tampa melodic trash outfit THE ABSENCE is currently opening for Swedish Viking metallers AMON AMARTH on their North American tour. Also on the bill are the Finnish folk-metal act ENSIFERUM and the Austrian blackened death metal band BELPHEGOR.

Commented THE ABSENCE: "Well, the tour kicked off in L.A. We got there early to catch the ENSIFERUM and AMON AMARTH show at the House of Blues in Anaheim. We were not allowed to play that show for reasons beyond our control. The show was cool and we hung out with some fans and friends. The following day was the show at the Avalon in L.A.

"We've been having a blast with the other bands and the shows are amazing.
The fans are awesome and the shows are mostly sold out.

"We are en route to Edmonton at the moment. Canada has the best metal fans and the ketchup is great too.

"We have been going on early as we are the opener. We want to let all of our fans know this for they need to get to the shows pretty early. AMON AMARTH is hosting meet-and-greets as well so don't miss out on that either."

THE ABSENCE's sophomore CD, "Riders of the Plague", was released on August 7, 2007 via Metal Blade Records. The album was recorded at Mana Studios in Florida with Swedish producer Jonas Kjellgren (SCAR SYMMETRY, CARNAL FORGE). Mixing duties were handled by Jonas at his Black Lounge studios in Avesta, Sweden. The CD features guest appearances by guitarists James Murphy (DEATH, TESTAMENT),Jonas Kjellgren, Per Nilsson (SCAR SYMMETRY) and Santiago Dobles (AGHORA) as well as guest vocals by Jonas Granvik (WITHOUT GRIEF, EDGE OF SANITY).
