THE ALIEN BLAKK: Rhythm Guitar Tracks For New CD Complete

July 10, 2008

THE ALIEN BLAKK, the band led by guitarist/producer Joshua Craig, has finished laying down the rhythm guitar tracks for its sophomore album, tentatively due late 2008/early 2009.

The drums on the new THE ALIEN BLAKK CD were tracked by Kevin Talley (DAATH, ex-CHIMAIRA, THE RED CHORD) while the bass was handled by David Ellefson (MEGADETH, F5).

Commented Craig, "We are tuned to F# in the lows — so low that I am told this is tuning is the lowest ever captured on a recording from A guitar. I used bass strings on my new custom Paul Reed Smith signatures with special neck dimensions and fixed bridges to help hold the tuning between the bass and guitar strings —a baritone design I came up and worked with the company on. There is some extremely dissonant arrangement ideas and orchestrations set with very styled-sounding music and set against normal tones to make for a unique blend. A lot of movements and thematically developed structures. Unique in nature as well as visualization in sound."

He added, "David's bass was tuned so low we had a tool kit out to help tail pieces on the bridge to be raised and neck adjustments be made so even the heaviest gauge bass strings had tension and clarity, believe me, its sick! We also have a cover of a TOM PETTY tune with an acoustic/flamenco melodic shredding ending and an extended guitar solo that kinda reminds me of a 'Freebird'-type ending."

THE ALIEN BLAKK sophomore album tentative track listing:

01. The Quickening
02. Erased
03. In Memory
04. I Tried You
05. Jigsaw
06. Runnin' Down A Dream (TOM PETTY cover)
07. From Under The Ground
08. Hate Me

The upcoming THE ALIEN BLAKK live shows will not include Ellefson or Talley but will feature a bassist who teaches at Berklee College Of Music and a "gypsy/thrash" drummer.
