'The Art of Screaming!' DVD Now Available

July 16, 2008

"The Art of Screaming!" an instructional DVD by renowned vocal expert and teacher Susan M. Carr, is available for pre-order from TheArtOfScreaming.com.

The key to being ready for the rigors of performing and touring is learning both where the "scream/growl" is actually made and the specific exercises that craft the technique of "The Art of Screaming!" These exercises that renowned singing teacher, Susan M. Carr, developed in 1978 and refined during the "grunge" music scene have produced outstanding singers in the rock music industry then and today.

"We've broadened our sound. And, in my opinion — thanks to Susan's techniques — I was able to go in (to the studio) and just give it a go, and certain takes made the record. Whereas, without her input, it probably wouldn't have made the record. She gave me the confidence and the balls to just open up and let it go," stated Troy Sanders, MASTODON vocalist/bassist about his improved vocal performance on the band's Grammy-nominated "Blood Mountain" album after training with Susan Carr.

Between 1978 and 1996, Susan M. Carr developed a well-known vocal studio for singers in Seattle. During this time she worked with many of the most important bands in the emerging Seattle rock scene, among them ALICE IN CHAINS, SUNNY DAY REAL ESTATE, and SKINYARD/GRUNTRUCK. Today, Carr continues to teach, working with bands such as the Grammy-nominated MASTODON and MINUS THE BEAR, among others. Many agents and record labels regularly send their talent to Susan because of her skill as a superior technical teacher.
