THE ATLAS MOTH Signs With CANDLELIGHT RECORDS

August 4, 2009

Candlelight Records has announced the signing of Chicago's THE ATLAS MOTH. The quintet recently completed recording its new album, "A Glorified Piece of Blue Sky", at Phase Recordings in the band's hometown for an October 6 release. Produced by THE ATLAS MOTH, with post-production work handled by Michael Kandel (TRANQUILITY BASS),the CD showcases the band's triple-guitar wall of sound that is sure to leave a lasting impression. Clocking in at just under an hour, the album's eight metal epics are dynamic, expressive, and heavier than sin.

Looking back on the album's creation, guitarist/vocalist Stavros reveals, "'A Glorified Piece of Blue Sky' became something none of us could have expected. It is a completely collaborative record, from start to finish. It really is a true representation of our band."

Popular throughout the Midwest region, THE ATLAS MOTH has already shared the stage with PENTAGRAM, SAVIOURS, INTRONAUT, NACHTMYSTIUM, WOLVES IN THE THRONE ROOM, COALESCE and many others.

Formed in 2007, THE ATLAS MOTH unites sludge, doom, psychedelia, blues, and more. Stavros notes, "It is heavy music for heavy thinkers." Taking influence from an array of artists, including the DEFTONES, NEUROSIS, CAVE IN, QUICKSAND and pieces of all that is heavy in between, the band twists sound ebbing from sheer intensity to peaceful interludes that is far more sophisticated or expected from a group of their relative youth.

THE ATLAS MOTH's "Pray for Tide" mini-album (Witch Trial Records) received rave reviews upon its release in 2008.
