THE CROWN's MARKO TERVONEN: The Split With TOMAS LINDBERG Was Amicable

June 8, 2002

THE CROWN guitarist Marko Tervonen has refuted the reports of an acrimonious split with vocalist Tomas Lindberg and has made it clear that Lindberg's numerous side projects (including THE GREAT DECEIVER, LOCKUP and SKITSYSTEM) were not a factor in the group's decision to part with the singer.

"OK, some shit needs to be said until this thing goes apeshit," Tervonen began in his message posted on the BLABBERMOUTH.NET news board. "Is it so hard to understand that it is very complicated to have the chemistry working between 5 persons at the same time? Sometimes shit just doesn't work out, it doesn't necessarily have to mean that people are ripping each other's eyes out. Explaining in detail would be too personal and it would be way too advanced keeping it SHORT, so that EVERYBODY understands. [Tomas'] side projects did NOT disturb. We are NOT enemies. BOTH sides agree on this."

As previously reported, THE CROWN will be utilizing the services of original singer Johan Lindstrand during the group's appearance at Finland's Tuska Metal festival on July 13th. However, Johan's decision to help out his former bandmates by appearing with the group at Tuska "does not mean that he's back in the band—this is more of an old friend helping out thing," according to a message posted on THE CROWN's official web site.
